Yellow Butterflies

My oldest daughter, Hannah got married to

Garrett on March 15th, 2025. We all both decided that we would give eachother our cards and gifts on Wednesday before the Wedding. I told my girls our mission: was for us to get Hannah married with Joy.

My card was hand done with raised script and variety of Spring Flowers worded “My Mother On My Wedding Day, March 15th, 2025. Hannah’s letter to me, was beautifully written. It was from my daughter’s beautiful heart.

She thanked me for being her spiritual mentor. One sentence was very meaningful. Hannah said I’m her reminder to have fun and be kind. I told her that was her Paw-Paw in me. Even in the hard times and happy times, he had a joy and laughter in his smile. He told me one time “Dawn we have to work hard, but also we have to have fun.”

The word kind is my Mama in me. She never had anything negative to say about anyone. She would light up the room from her presence. She was a wonderful listener and anyone that knew her felt her Grace.

My gift is indescribable. It’s a portrait of Mama Doris in her elegant hydrangea blue outfit, Hannah in her enchanting Wedding Gown, and me wearing my Mother of the Bride Hydrangea Blue brocade dress. Hannah said Mama Doris and I were “Her Something Blue”.

Hannah pointed out that all three of us are standing in the lovely spot where I heard Hannah and Garrett say “I Do.”

Hannah asked, did you notice the two yellow butterflies above my head? Then joyful tears began to flow. Yellow butterflies are special in our Family. I told my kids after their grandparents passed away, to think of them as happy Butterflies free from being sick, and they are with Jesus.

Hannah told me that once Mama Doris and Paw-Paw passed away, she saw yellow butterflies. She told me when Garrett proposed she saw yellow butterflies.

This heartfelt and thoughtful gift, I will always treasure.
